Robbie Herbst is a violinist and writer based in Chicago. He holds degrees from Dartmouth College (B.A. in History and Music) and the University of Colorado at Boulder (M.M. Violin Performance; A.D. Violin Performance/Orchestral Studies). At CU, Robbie completed his degree by leading a conductor-less ensemble in a performance of Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 5. He is currently a member of the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, the West Michigan Symphony, and the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra. He performs as a substitute with the Colorado Symphony, the Louisiana Philharmonic, Madison Symphony, Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, and he is an alumnus of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago.
His writing has been published at Gulf Coast, X-R-A-Y, CRAFT and other publications. He was the Second Place Winner in the 2021 Lorian Hemmingway Short Fiction Contest and the Five South Flash Fiction Contest. When neither writing nor performing, he enjoys rock climbing, film photography, and his dog, Reba, who is a good girl. |
