Robbie Herbst is a violinist and writer based in Chicago. He holds degrees from Dartmouth College (B.A. in History and Music) and the University of Colorado at Boulder (M.M. Violin Performance; A.D. Violin Performance/Orchestral Studies). At CU, Robbie completed his degree by leading a conductor-less ensemble in a performance of Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 5. He is currently a member of the Chicago Civic Orchestra, the West Michigan Symphony, and the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra. He performs as a substitute with the Colorado Symphony, the Louisiana Philharmonic, Madison Symphony, and Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra .
His writing has been published or is forthcoming at Gulf Coast, X-R-A-Y, CRAFT and other publications. He was the Second Place Winner in the 2021 Lorian Hemmingway Short Fiction Contest and the Five South Flash Fiction Contest. When neither writing nor performing, he enjoys rock climbing, film photography, and his dog, Reba, who is a good girl. |
