Hi again, I’m Robbie. I live in Chicago with my dog, where I play violin, write, and read other people’s writing. She mostly sleeps and watches out the window for Threats.
Some things that I’m into recently: Borges, the death drive, Ottorino Respighi, body horror, Xavier Dolan. My first love was Mahler and my last love will be Nabokov.
As a violinist: I’m the Assistant Principal Second Violin of the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, and I’m a section violinist in the West Michigan Symphony. I have a Masters of Music and an Artist Diploma from CU Boulder, and I used to play with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. I’m also a proud member of AFM local 10-208.
As a writer: I’ve been described by my friend, Duncan, as "some of the best off-beat and experimental fiction from any new or emerging writer I have seen in quite some time.” Thanks, Duncan! Mostly I write short fiction, but I also dabble in essays and poetry. Currently, I’m at work on a novel. You, too, can be on the cutting edge of my creative output by following my substack.
As an admissions consultant: I work with students applying to undergrad, graduate, and medical school. In particular, I specialize as a tutor for personal narrative essay writing.
